About Us

Cooper Stott Solicitors is a well-established and trusted law firm based in Aykley Heads, just outside of Durham City. We have a team of experienced solicitors ready to help our clients. Founded in 1987, we have a wealth of experience in providing legal solutions with a personal approach. We are proud to be members of the Law Society's Family Law Advanced Panel, Children Panel, and Conveyancing Quality Scheme.

Our History

Our story began in 1987, when Alison Stott Solicitors was formed. Over the years, the practice has evolved, but our ethos has remained the same: we put our clients at the heart of everything we do. We listen carefully to our clients' objectives and have the experience and expertise to enable us to meet their needs. We are proud to have served our community and beyond since our inception.

Angela McGurk

Angela joined the firm as a trainee in 2005 and became a director in 2019. Since qualifying, Angela has specialized in all aspects of family law, including divorce, separation, financial matters, private arrangements for children, cases involving domestic violence, and cohabitation cases. Angela is a member of the Law Society's Children Law Accreditation Panel and can represent children in care proceedings.

James Cooper

James joined us as a trainee in 2008 and now specializes in private client and conveyancing work. James advises on a range of wills, probate, and Lasting Powers of Attorney matters, helping clients to plan for the future. James also maintains a buoyant conveyancing caseload.

Katie Cooper

Katie joined us in 2019, having spent 11 years at a top 20 law firm. She specializes in complex property transactions and is a valuable addition to our team.
