Business Details
We established Row and Scott in the early 1980s, having first met as articled clerks at McKeags before founding our practice. Our firm originally operated from St Nicholas Buildings in central Newcastle, expanding rapidly to open a branch on Church Street in Consett and later a consultation room on Wellwood Street in Amble. Barry Row retired from the firm in January 2013, and Richard Scott retired in August 2015, though Richard continues to serve as a Consultant to support our team. Our primary Newcastle office has been based at 98 West Road since 2002, while our Consett office relocated to Tanfield Lea in 2023, and we still maintain our Amble consultation room. We operate primarily from our Newcastle office, where our two Directors Adam Leighton Scott and Peter Joseph Docherty deliver client services. We have a proud longstanding tradition of providing legally aided work, holding formal contracts from the Legal Aid Agency to deliver services in criminal, family and housing law.
For clients who do not qualify for legal aid, we deliver the same high-quality, professional legal support at fully competitive rates. We have operated the Legal Aid Agency Duty Possession Scheme in Northumberland since 2005, and in Newcastle since 2010, offering free legal advice at court for individuals facing possession proceedings for rented or mortgaged properties. Our firm holds both Lexcel and CQS accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to the highest professional standards in legal service delivery. We are fully authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and maintain the required professional indemnity insurance in line with SRA rules to protect our clients. All our solicitors are specialist, experienced professionals dedicated to delivering tailored, practical advice that prioritises our clients best interests at all times.
