Our History

Robert Wilson & Son is a long-established legal practice, proudly serving the residents of Dumfries and Galloway since 1866. This position as one of the oldest legal firms in the region is a testament to our enduring commitment to providing high-quality legal services and building lasting relationships with our clients. Our Dedicated Team

We are fortunate to have a highly skilled and dedicated team, led by Principal Solicitor Colin Bell. Colin's extensive experience and legal acumen ensure that our clients receive the highest level of professional advice and representation. Colin graduated from Glasgow University with First Class Honours in Tax Law and subsequently became a Scottish Chartered Accountant and Solicitor. He is deeply committed to upholding professional ethics and serves as Vice Chairman of the Scottish Solicitors Discipline Tribunal.

Colin's passion for legal education is evident in his role as a part-time tutor at the University of Glasgow School of Law. Our Associate Solicitor, Nicola Bell, joins us with a vibrant energy and commitment to the legal profession. Nicola graduated from Glasgow University with an Honours degree in Law and excelled in her legal studies, earning the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice with Merit. She joined our team after qualifying as a Solicitor in 2022 and brings a fresh perspective and dedication to client service.

A team of experienced secretarial staff, headed by Louise Fisher, provides exceptional and efficient support to our solicitors and clients alike. Their expertise ensures seamless operations and timely communication, always aiming to deliver a personal touch within our legal services. Complementing our legal expertise, we also employ two fully qualified paralegals, Michelle Milne and Jill Hextall. Michelle focuses on Wills, Trusts, and Estates, providing expert guidance and support in these sensitive areas. Jill specialises in residential conveyancing, estate agency, and general property matters in our Sanquhar office. Both Michelle and Jill are Law Society of Scotland registered Paralegals, bringing additional expertise and efficiency to our team. A unique addition to our team is Ronnie, our Meet & Greet and resident fox red Labrador! Ronnie delights in greeting clients with his friendly demeanor, adding a touch of warmth and joy to our office environment. He often accompanies Nicola to work, bringing smiles to everyone's faces.
